Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before their first consultation.

Do you take physical possession of my drive? +

No. Consultations are advisory and remote. If a drive needs a cleanroom, we tell you and point you to a lab instead of experimenting on it.

My disk makes clicking noises. Should I keep trying? +

Power it down now. Mechanical noise usually means head or platter damage, and every additional spin-up reduces what can be recovered.

Can you help with an accidentally formatted partition? +

Usually yes. If nothing has been written since the format, partition structures are often reconstructible. Stop using the volume immediately.

Which systems do you cover? +

Windows, Linux and macOS volumes, plus NTFS, exFAT, FAT32, ext4, APFS and common hardware or software RAID layouts.

How is a session priced? +

Flat rate per session, agreed before it starts. Complex multi-disk arrays get a written estimate first — no billing surprises.

Do you ever see my files? +

Only if you deliberately share a screen or a sample. We never request copies of your data, and nothing is stored on our side.
